Quran recitation
Covers the detailed rules of Quran recitation, practice of Quran recitation under the guidance of qualified teachers according to the recitation of Imam Hafs. The different accents and pronunciations are also studied. The seven different famous methods of recitation from the seven different scholars of recitation are also studied and practiced. Thereafter, the 3 additional famous and accepted methods of recitation are studied and practiced. Students refer to the books of the scholars of the past and solve, analyse and perfect their recitation in all ten methods under the guidance of a qualified teacher.
Quran commentary
Covers the different explanations of the different verses of the Quran. The reasons for the revelation of the verses are discussed. Verses are analysed in terms of jurisprudence, rhetoric, syntax, morphology, logic, etc. Further the Islamic rulings of the verses are derived and analysed. Contemporary issues are discussed related to jurisprudence, beliefs, inheritance, science, etc. The contemporary issues are discussed parallel to historical rulings and teachings.
Principles of Quran commentary
Introduces the rules of Quran commentary. Covers certain topics related to the Quran in detail. Students develop the method of doing Quran commentary and learn which of the many different views in the commentary are given preference to with reason. Students are introduced to further reading within this subject, exploring the works of the great classical commentators themselves.
Hadeeth commentary
Covers the different explanations of the different prophetic narrations. Starting from the basic explanations or more detail explanations as the student progresses. The background to the Ahadeeth are discussed and researched. Verses are analysed in terms of jurisprudence, rhetoric, syntax, morphology, logic, etc. Further the Islamic rulings of the verses are derived and analysed. Contemporary issues are discussed related to jurisprudence, beliefs, inheritance, science, etc. The contemporary issues are discussed parallel to historical rulings and teachings. The teaching is done by expert, world renowned teachers of Hadeeth. The authenticity of narrations, the views of the different scholars, the critical analysis of certain rijal (narrators) is also debated. Students develop the method of doing Hadeeth commentary and learn which of the many different views in the commentary are given preference to with reason.
Principles of Hadeeth
Introduces the rules of Hadeeth in terms of transmission, authenticity, etiquettes, etc. Further, the critical analysis of rijal (narrators) is learnt and practiced referring to the books of the leading Hadeeth scholars of the past. Students develop the method of verifying the different narrations and method of takreej (exploring and finding narrations). Students are introduced to further reading within this subject, exploring the works of the great classical commentators themselves.
Hadeeth memorisation
Students are given the task of memorising a book (published by the institute) consisting of a 1000 authentic narrations. Yearly targets are given with termly assessments to maintain a steady progress is achieved.
Islamic jurisprudence
The basic Islamic rulings according to the Hanafi school of thought are taught in the earlier studies. The Islamic rulings are developed further as the student progresses, mastering Islamic jurisprudence according to Hanafi school. Islamic rules on cleanliness, prayer, pilgrimage, fasting, marriage & divorce, sacrificing animals, inheritance, Islamic transactions, neighbourhood rights, etc are taught by qualified lectures in Islamic jurisprudence. Further, students are given a wide range of knowledge regarding other schools, including the Maliki, Shafee, Hanbali & Shia Islamic jurisprudence. In addition the students are equipped with contemporary issues and solutions for the immediate benefit of the community.
Principles of Islamic jurisprudence
Introduces the laws of Islamic jurisprudence. A wide range of issues are covered with constant reference to contemporary issues. The skill of deriving Islamic rulings from the Quran & Hadeeth is developed. Further, the skill of Ijtihaad and Qiyaas is learnt and practiced. Students are given the tasks of further reading within the subject, exploring the works of the great jurists of the past.
Beliefs
Covers the beliefs of different sects that developed within the Muslim culture. The views of the different sects are analysed and understood. Non-muslim beliefs are also discussed and analysed. The proofs of all the groups are debated and given detail discussions upon. The potential new beliefs developing and contemporary beliefs are also discussed and analysed.
Logic
Covers the terminologies mentioned within Arabic logic books. The subject is understood in tabular and graphical form. The roots of logic are outlined with the mention of how logic is a branch of philosophy. The students are informed regarding how Greek philosophy entered Islamic teachings and the importance of learning logic to truly appreciate the works of earlier Islamic scholars like Gazzali and Razi.
Syntax
Covers the grammatical rules of the Arabic language. The development of the rules over time is discussed. The different opinions of the grammarians are discussed. The proofs of the different groups are mentioned form Quranic verses, prophetic narrations and accepted Arabic poems. Detailed books of grammar are solved and applied.
Morphology
Covers the study of morphemes, root words affixes, etc with analysing and description of each word. Constant practice of the different scales is completed with analysis of certain scales. The properties of the different scales are detailed with examples, practice and application.
Literature
Covers the arts of letters in poetry and prose. Both fiction and non-fiction literature is studied providing the students a good grasp on a wide range of topics. Shorts stories, historical events, mystery and adventure stories are explored in terms of syntax, morphology and rhetoric. Arabic sentence structure is developed and changing root words to other scales is examined.
Rhetoric
Covers the art of discourse, the speaking methods to a wide range of audience. Covers the method used in speaking or writing in terms of persuasive, motivating, informative, etc for different audiences in different situations. The importance of rhetoric, along with logic and grammar, as one of the three ancient arts of discourse is discussed and emphasised. Students are challenged to develop speech and writing consisting of rhetoric. Analysis of Arabic text is practiced in terms of rhetoric.
